FAQ

Common questions about business automation

Straight answers to what owners ask before we work together. If yours isn't here, ask me on a call.

What does a business automation consultant do?

A business automation consultant connects the software you already use and sets up your repetitive admin to run on its own. I look at how work moves through your business, find the tasks done the same way every time, and build a system that handles them, so data entry, follow-ups, and reminders stop landing on you.

How do I get my business apps to talk to each other?

You connect them so information passes from one app to another automatically instead of being copied manually. I connect the apps you already use, like your calendar, inbox, CRM, and invoicing, so when something happens in one, it updates the others on its own. You keep your current software and don't have to learn a new system.

Why am I entering the same information in two or three places?

Because your apps don't share information automatically, so a person has to carry it from one to the next. When a client books, you might retype their details into your CRM, then your invoicing, then a spreadsheet. I connect those apps so the information moves once, on its own, and you stop typing the same thing over and over.

Can I automate my work without replacing the software I already use?

Yes. I work with the apps you already pay for. Nothing gets ripped out and there's no new system for your team to learn. I connect your current tools and add automation on top, so the change is in how the work flows, not in what you use day to day.

What's the difference between an automation consultant and an IT company?

An IT company usually keeps your computers, network, and security running. I work on the flow of your daily work: connecting the apps you use and automating the admin between them. Different job. I'm not fixing your laptop, I'm making sure a new lead, a booking, or an invoice moves through your tools without you doing it by hand.

Should I just use Zapier, or do it myself?

You can, and for one or two simple steps it might be all you need. It gets hard when the work spans several tools, has exceptions, and has to keep running when something changes. That's the part that eats your time to set up and maintain. I build the whole thing around how your business actually works, test it on real cases, and keep it running, so you're not troubleshooting it at night.

How much does a business automation consultant cost?

It depends on how many apps need connecting and how much admin you want automated. After a free 30-minute call, I give you a clear plan and a price for the work, so you know the cost before anything starts. Most owners begin with one or two high-value automations and add more over time.

When should I hire a business automation consultant?

When you're spending evenings and weekends on admin, when work slips through the cracks because no one had time to follow up, or when you can't take on more clients without hiring. If you're copying the same information between apps every week, it's worth a conversation.

What should I automate first in my business?

Start with the task you do most often that you like least, usually the one that involves copying information between apps or chasing people for the same thing every week. On our first call I'll help you spot it. I recommend starting with one or two automations that give you the most time back, then building from there.

Can you set up n8n for my business?

Yes. n8n is the tool I use to connect your apps and automate the work between them. I set it up, build the automations around how your business actually runs, test them on your real work, and look after them. You don't need to know what n8n is to work with me.

How do contractors, clinics, and service businesses use automation to save time?

Same idea, different shape for each. A renovation contractor automates estimate follow-ups, subcontractor reminders, and review requests. A vet clinic automates appointment reminders and the sync between booking and accounting. A sales-driven business automates lead capture, CRM updates, and follow-ups. I build it around how your business actually runs.

What happens if an automation breaks?

Things change, and sometimes an app updates and a connection needs a fix. That's normal. You'll be able to see when something isn't running, and I stay on to fix it and adjust as your business shifts. You're not left holding a broken system on your own.

How do I know the automation is actually working?

I set you up with a simple dashboard that shows what's running and what it's saving you, in time and in money. You can see it working at a glance, and we use it to decide what's worth automating next. Nothing runs in the dark.

Do I need to know anything about AI?

No. That's my job. You bring what you know about your business. I bring the tools and the know-how to make your existing software work together. Nothing gets ripped out and replaced.

Do you work with businesses outside Greater Vancouver?

Yes. I'm based in Greater Vancouver and serve the Lower Mainland: Burnaby, Surrey, Richmond, Coquitlam, the North Shore, and the Tri-Cities. I also work remotely across Canada. It's a fit for any business whose tools don't talk to each other, wherever you are.
